November 07, 2018.The official launch of CCA Run for Life: Campaign for the prevention of liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma. It was held today on the 1st Floor, main exhibition area, Central Plaza in Khon Kaen. The event is organized by several groups who recognizing the severity of liver fluke infection and fluke associated cholangiocarcinoma as a major public health problem in NE Thailand.
The National Research Council of Thailand in 2016 launched Thailand Research Challenge and subsequently awarded a grant to CASCAP for the master research project Fluke Free Thailand. One of the main objectives of the project is public education and awareness for disease prevention. Fluke Free Thailand and CCA Run for Life have launched this campaign for the purpose of raising public awareness for the prevention of liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma. The objective is to stimulate people's awareness of the importance of the problem, as well as to protect themselves, families, communities and society from the risk liver fluke infection and bile duct cancer.
CCA Run for Life sponsoring groups include Khon Kaen Governor, Dr. Somsak Jungtrakoon, Khon Kaen University, The Cholangiocarcinoma Screening and Care Program (CASCAP) The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation of Thailand, National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB).
The Khon Kaen agenda as a strategy to eliminate the problem of liver fluke and cholangiocarcinoma in Khon Kaen can serve as a model for other provinces. Broadly In line with the Strategic Plan of the Decade to Eliminate Liver Fluke Infection and Cholangiocarcinoma, 2016-2025.
